While we were creating the list of 52 changes I noticed a trend that a lot of them were taking away things from my lifestyle. I did not want to turn the project into something I was dreading every week because I was taking things away week after week. So we started developing ideas that would add things to my lifestyle as well.
Week 2 I will start drinking 68 ounces of water a day for the rest of the year. Searching around I came to the conclusion from many websites that I needed to be consuming an average of 65-70 ounces of water a day to be properly hydrated. Next came the search for a bottle. I needed one bottle that was big enough to hold all my water for the day so I wouldn't have to carry a measuring cup around in my pocket. So I started scavenging the house and the hydration station will be forever changed with the invention of the Me P . . .

So there we have it. No more soda for the rest of the year and 68 ounces of water per day. More to come later with how many diapers I have gone through this week!
End of Week 2 Update
For the majority of week 2 I have been visiting my sister in Tampa at her new house. Yesterday during our morning routine as I sat quietly eating cereal at the kitchen table behind my newspaper I heard her shout down the stairs to her son, "Jacob, I smell peepee upstairs, did somebody pee the bed last night?" Jacob responded with his usual "Nooooo." Whether he had done it or not the answer would have been the same. However, further investigation by my sis led to the fact that Jacob was telling the truth and the smell was coming from the guest room. I could soon feel her eyes burning through the newspaper. We were going to need to have a talk about my new years resolution.
Okay so I didn't really pee the bed but this week was by far the first time I have ever had to schedule drinking water and trips to the bathroom into my daily or even hourly schedule. Since the Me P is back at home in Virginia I have been drinking two full one liter Nalgenes per day. Generally trying to knock out one by around noon and leaving one left for the rest of the day. Towards the beginning of the week I saw it more of a task and annoying with all the trips to the bathroom until I started noticing the benefits. For some reason drinking half the Nalgene before breakfast eventually started waking me up and left me feeling much more energetic. So I did a quick search to see if there was any reasoning behind this. It appears there is! Multiple articles such as "Waking up to Water - It's Crucial" and "The Many Wonders of Water: 6 Reasons to Drink Up" tell that drinking sixteen ounces of water in the morning not only helps rehydrate you after sleep but helps to speed your metabolism for the coming day. Fourteen days into the new year the stats are up,
Water - 3.7 gallons
Soda - 0 ounces
