This has got to be one of the stranger things on my list. After visiting a few different countries and waiting tables for a few years, ice made its way onto the list of things that I take for granted on a daily basis. Most other countries don't serve it in their drinks and many people believe that it restrains the progress of the digestive system during a meal. It also wastes A LOT of energy. This guy did a little more research into it than I was willing to but I think I agree with him on the aspect of ice being merely a social addiction.
So in order to make it a challenge, what better time to start than the middle of summer? So for the rest of the year I'll be drinking my drinks either hot or at room temperature or planning enough in advance to cool them in the fridge. No more ice for the rest of 2014.

End of Week 28 Update
Big things happened in week 28. I started off the week under the impression that I had a broken toe. Just as I was beginning to grow worried that my running goal would be in jeopardy for the rest of the year and barely being able to knock out a 5k on Monday I caught my toe on some shorts after a shower and felt an immense pain. The nail looked to be infected. After the first time years ago I was still quite sure I never wanted to have to do this again but it was time for self toenail removal. There is a reason this was once a type of torture. You don't forget how it makes the muscles tense up in your back. I made the right move. That same night I was back out feeling almost as good as new.
Welcome BEATRICE THE BIKE CART to the family! One step closer to going vehicle less. I got to do trash clean up on my bike this week and can also pick up groceries now without my car.
The first week without ice was really not a huge challenge. I walked around downtown with my roommates one night and forgot to order no ice when I ordered a water at the bar. Two things I'm not very used to doing there but that was my only mix up of the week as far as that was concerned.
Its time to take a vote! As I mentioned at the end of last week I am working on Adopting a Highway. The blue signs with a cardinal that they post on the roadsides in Virginia read "This section of Highway Adopted by _______________". So here is my idea. I want to fill in the blank with one of the these characters names. From that point on I will dress up as this character when I'm picking up trash. Which do you think would be most entertaining to see if you were driving down the road?
