My week in Tampa was spent getting a lot of rest and relaxing. Last Wednesday I spent updating my blog in a cool loose leaf tea shop in St Petersburg called Hooker Tea Company and it was the most relaxing part of my trip. As I was looking over the list of resolutions I decided to bump this one up to Week 4 for a few reasons. Number one being I had to find a positive replacement for taking liquor out of my liquid diet. Number two is that the health benefits from tea seem to be unending. A few that stood out to me were
- Catechins which are antioxidants in green tea can boost endurance by increasing the body's ability to burn fat as a fuel.
(This sounds like a dream come true to an ultra runner) - It helps to prevent an endless list of cancers including breast, colon, colorectal, skin, lung, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, pancreas, liver, ovarian, prostate and oral cancers.
End of Week 4 Update
Week 4 did not show me any drastic changes in my energy or health such as week 2 (water week) did. Mentally however it has been important by integrating two specific fifteen minute increments of the day into my schedule that are focused around something simple and relaxing. You just can't rush tea. Even looking back to my time at the tea shop in Tampa, part of why I had such a good time was because the guy working there was super laid back. There was no stressing him out. Whether he had a line out the door or just one customer he was working efficiently but being friendly and relaxed all the same.

So in the spirit of relaxation I have made another small transformation to the house. We have a shelf specifically devoted to tea in the kitchen with a little chart next to it that reads suggested infusion times and water temperatures for a few different kinds of tea so I gave it a loose translation and replaced it. Here is a picture of the old chart and new one because picking a tea is not only picking the taste but also the amount of time you are going to get to sit back and chill out!
